5 Future Technologies Shaping Today

The world as we know it is changing faster than we can imagine. In the last five years alone, we have seen some quantum leaps in terms of technologies. Smartphones, multi-touch desktops, tablets, mobile applications, and cloud computing methods have not only grown increasingly simplistic, but also very common and affordable. This exponential increase in technology is now a necessity that all businesses must embrace or fall by the wayside. Below are just a few of the cutting edge technologies which might soon become exceedingly common all around the world.
1. Robotics (Artificial Intelligence)
Robotics is already a controversial field, and artificial intelligence is the most exciting part of it. With Artificial Intelligence, scientists hope to achieve a near replica of human thought process. However, currently, robotics isn’t anywhere near achieving that. The ideal form of Artificial Intelligence would be a man-made machine capable of human type intellectual thoughts. They will be able to formulate their own ideas, reason, learn, use a language and maybe even have feelings! Google and Facebook are just some of the huge corporations heavily invested in robotics and/or artificial intelligence.
2.  3D Printing
The possibilities are endless with the more affordable and advanced 3D printers our there. You are able to input dimensions and other pertinent data to out print three-dimensional objects. It can print out your digital designs into any form of a solid product. The material can be anything, to plastic, metal, and even food! You can even print out your food in a matter of minutes in any shape you require layer by layer and cook it up. Or print out pieces for drones, cars, or firearms. The 3D Printing industry is full of promise and will ultimately touch all the future aspects of life. In the near future perhaps there will even be 3D printed houses!
3. Internet of Things
Internet of Things (or simply IoT) is the continuously evolving online network made up of advanced devices around us. The objects can be embedded with sensors capable of collecting and exchanging data through the internet. A common example is the connection with the lights in a room. Detecting a motion sensor, they can go on and off as a person enters or leaves the room. It can be used for security purposes or convenience like sending you an email if your food is replenishing in stock or expired in your refrigerator and automatically opening your car door in your proximity. Amazon, Google, and Apple are just a few of the business behemoths advancing the IoT daily.
4. Wearable Technology
The exponential increase in wearable tech such as the Google Glass, Apple Watch, and Fitbit (and similar) devices just to name a few. Let’s take the Google Glass for instance.Google Glass is an optical mounted display in the shape of eyeglasses. It’s made navigation and variety of other functions that much easier. You can navigate with GPS and take photos as you are walking or driving towards your destination. You can also receive constant updates about an area and location when you come in contact. Not only that but you can also view your social media feeds, check your mail and text with these glasses too. While Google Glass hasn’t been a huge commercial success (yet), the Apple Watchand variety of other smartwatches and metabolic trackers are here to stay. Wearable technology will continue to become more common, more advanced, and more affordable over time.
5. Virtual Reality & Location-Based Augmented Reality
Virtual Reality is the future of gaming technology. Being a gamer myself, I find it incredibly mesmerizing and fascinating. The 3D headset from systems like Mark Zuckerberg‘s new Oculus Rift will makes you feel you are part of the game as it transports you to a virtual world. And also think about the incredibly popular new PokĂ©mon Go app (based on the Ingress engine), which allows you to catch PokĂ©mon in the “real world”. It takes user engagement to the next level and conjoins the fantasy world to the real one. While there are products of virtual reality available in the market, this redefines the future of the gaming industry and is set forth to bring a revolution that will make people enjoy all the benefits of a 3D based game in their own homes.
The future of technology is today and it’s already taking the world by storm. Don’t get lost behind.
